5 Simple Tips on Staying Sane
It’s an understatement to say that these are challenging times.
It can be hard to navigate the landscape on a day to day basis, especially with relentless onslaught of information we’re all subjected to in the digital age. Here’s our checklist of things you can do to keep your sanity until COVID-19 is behind us.
Unplug from the news cycle
When we’re looking for answers during times of uncertainty, it’s easy to get caught up in the media cycle. We all want to make sure we have the latest information, but it doesn’t take long before all the noise drives you up a wall. Take some time back for yourself and get completely away from your TV, phone, email, and social media for a few hours to clear your head.
- Do some exercise
- Practice meditation or breathing
- Read a book
- Take a walk
- Play some cards
Stress is inevitable right now, and likely lots of it. Do yourself a favour and learn some stress management techniques, so that you not only make it through this, but you feel ok doing so. Maybe something good to come out of all this is learning the art of unplugging on a regular basis.
Give your location a deep clean
Keep yourself busy by doing all those things that always get put on the back burner. Simple game maintenance, spackle and paint, and most importantly, sanitizing everything in your location. Remember there’s a difference between “clean” and “sanitized”. A clean surface would pass a visible inspection, but a sanitized surface is 99.9% free from bacteria.
Don’t forget to take care of your personal devices too. COVID-19 is said to live on some surfaces, like glass, for extended periods of time. Learn how to disinfect your phone the right way.
Focus on the other side
At this stage no one knows how long the isolation and recommendations for social distancing will last. One thing we’re confident in though is that your guests will be going stir crazy after a while, and they’ll be itching to get out, socialize and play games! Start planning your relaunch strategy now. It will give you something positive to focus on and keep you motivated to keep moving forward. If you’re already doing a deep clean, consider changing up your game room layout.
